About
Jilly Bernard Scagliola Artist
Scagliola is a technique developed in late 16th century in Italy to imitate marble. I work in two techniques; the traditional method and a looser form developed from my Italian Fresco training.

I began as a specialist wall painter in London in 1986. In 1995 I added oil and water gilding to my repertoire and then, in 1999, I was accepted into Il Laboratorio Per Affresco at Figline de Prato, Italy.
I studied fresco under the maestro Leonetto Tintori for an academic year, during which I discovered the technique of Scagliola.
Subsequently I continued to learn and work in the studios of two of the main contemporary Scagliolists in Florence and Rome. Since then, I have worked from home in France and Italy, where I now live.
